Comic Summary: The village of Jackdaw's Nest in Avalon, under attack from Merlyn's forces, who rule Otherworld with an iron fist, and are set out to eradicate witchbreed – mutants. One young mutant who has been hiding out in Otherworld for some weeks is the Jersey Devil, who cowers in a barn as several Furies search Jackdaw's Next. They find him, but thankfully Captain Britain arrives to save him. However, there is no gate to send him back to Krakoa, and the Starlight Citadel is now the Lunatic Citadel. Captain Britain takes the Jersey Devil back to Roma's Floating Kingdom, currently a the stronghold of the Captain Britain Corps, who continue to protect Saturnyne from Merlyn and his forces. Captain Britain and Saturnyne argue for some time, with Captain Britain annoyed that the Corps must remain at the Floating Kingdom to serve Saturnyne, leaving Captain Britain without an army. Saturnyne suggests Captain Britain focus her efforts on defeating Merlyn, but Captain Britain's priority is to rescue mutants. They exchange jibes before Captain Britain departs and meets with Roma, who takes her behind a waterfall to a secret, hidden space, where Roma provides Captain Britain with a book that contains fairy magic. A quest is included in the book, a quest for ten. Captain Britain can choose the ten, but warns her that they will all face terrible trials. Captain Britain opens the book, and on Krakoa, several of Captain Britain's friends and associates begin to stir – Rictor and Shatterstar, Bei the Blood Moon, Gambit, and Rachel Summers all wake, and along with Meggan, Jubilee and her son Shogo, they gather in a forest, where Captain Britain appears, returned to Krakoa. Captain Britain explains to everyone that she needs them, for quest to save Otherworld. Some of the mutants are slightly uncertain about this, and they discuss the situation in Otherworld, before Shatterstar points out that there isn't ten of them yet.

Comic Summary: At the Lunatic Asylum, Merlyn is angry with his forces who have failed to destroy the witchbreed within Otherworld. Moreover, he is not impressed that two of the leaders of the realms of Otherworld are witchbreed themselves – the mysterious Mister M who is sealed away in his realm, and Mad Jim Jaspers, present at the meeting of the realm leaders – until Merlyn orders the Furies to restrain Mad Jim and take him away. On Krakoa, another group of leaders is in session, with the Quiet Council gathered as Captain Britain communicates telepathically with them from the Lavender Keep on Otherworld, explaining that they are on a quest to find the Siege Perilous. Sinister is interested to know what has happened to Mordred since his resurrection before Jubilee interrupts the meeting, concerned for Shogo, her son. Captain Britain assures Jubilee that she will keep Shogo safe. The communication ends, with Captain Britain assited by Rachel and three of the Captain Britain Corps in projecting the communication, though not without Sinister asking Captain Britain to bring him some of Mordred's DNA. Captain Britain and Rachel are soon alerted to a fight between Kylun and Mordred, and along with the other knights go to investigate, and put an end to the misunderstanding. Captain Britain suggests that the knights proceed with their quest for the Siege Perilous, before Rachel picks up a psychic distress call – Mad Jim Japsers is in danger. Gambit leads Meggan, Rachel, Kylun and Bei to the Crooked Market, assisted by the elderly local woman Geraldine. The knights find several mutants hiding in an underground tavern and Gambit gives them some supplies. Meggan is impressed by Gambit's kindness and tells him that if Rogue were here, she would tell him what a good man he is. Gambit tells Meggan that he misses Rogue, and they hug. Rachel is in telepathic communication with Captain Britain and informs her that she has scanned the minds of the locals, and determined that they are all scared of something called Brightswill. Captain Britain explains that that is the drink which Wolverine and Storm were defeated by during the recent tournament. At Roma's Floating Kingdom, Rictor and Shatterstar drink some wine while Captain Britain and Roma discuss what to do with Shogo, and agree to leave him at the Floating Kingdom so that Roma can train him. Captain Britain, Rictor, Shatterstar and Mordred then arrive in Blightspoke to find any allies, but what they find is the realm overrun by the Vescora, who have taken control of the refineries located at Blightspoke. There, Captain Britain finds Sheriff Gia Whitechappel and her posse held prisoner. Rictor, Shattertar and Mordred battle the Vescora, while Captain Britain works to free the sheriff and her posse, until they seemingly sacrifice themselves into the pits of lava within the refinery. After doing some damage against the Vescora, they escape, with Captain Britain telepathically contacting Rachel, who is under attack from several Furies, who have arrived at the Crooked Market. Amazing Baby leads some innocents to safety, while Rachel and Gambit work together to bring one of the Furies down. Meggan, Kylun and Bei work together to defeat another of the Furies, before they find Mad Jim Jaspers, held prisoner. Meanwhile, Captain Britain, Rictor, Shatterstar and Mordred arrive at the Sevalithi border to find help within the realm of the vampires.

Comic Summary: Some time ago, in the early days of Krakoa's formation, Apocalypse gave a realm of Otherworld to Mr M, in exchange for keeping the Siege Perilous safe. Today, in Roma's Floating Kingdom Roma and Saturnyne watch over Shogo, who has fallen into a depression. At the Crooked Market, Gambit, Meggan, Rachel Summers, Kylun and Bei have their hands full protecting the citizens of Otherworld as the Furies attack the market. Meggan single-handedly defeats one of the Furies, while Rachel Summers is called “Askani” by some of the locals, and when she questions them about that name, they tell her they heard it in a story. Rachel wants to regroup with Captain Britain and her team, but Gambit is determined that this squad find the captured Mad Jim Jaspers. Kylun soon spots Mad Jim, shackled and on display as the Furies and ogres prepare to execute him. Rachel is concerned that her psi-link with Captain Britain has stopped, but rallies alongside the others to go save Mad Jim. In the vampire realm of Sevalith, Captain Britain, Rictor, Shatterstar and Mordred are on a quest to find the Horseman called Death, who has been a prisoner in Sevalith for some time now. King Arthur and his army descend on Sevalith, ready to strike down Captain Britain and the witchbreed, while Captain Britain finds Death. Rictor gives Death the grimoire to decipher one of the scriptures, in which Death reveals to them that the Siege Perilous can be found in the realm of Mercator. Shortly, Captain Britain, Rictor, Shatterstar and Mordred have retreated to the sewers of Sevalith, where Rictor ponders Death's message that a sacrifice is required to enter Mercator. He decides that he will sacrifice himself, but Shatterstar is not happy about that. Captain Britain suddenly picks up Rachel's thoughts and asks Shatterstar to teleport everyone to the Crooked Market. Mordred protests, wanting to get to Mercator so that he can continue on the quest he is destined for. Captain Britain puts Mordred in his place, and the four teleport to the Crooked Market, just in time, as the team there are overwhelmed by Merlyn's forces. Captain Britain takes command and sends Gambit, Meggan and Kylun to rescue Mad Jim. Captain Britain and Rachel share a brief reunion, while up on the stage, the rescue has begun – only Merlyn appears, flying towards Gambit on his winged lion. Gambit leaps into the air and hurls a kinetically-charged playing card at his opponent – only it explodes, killing Gambit. Shogo cries out as he watches this through Roma's scrying pool, with Saturnyne pointing out that the sacrifice has been made.
